Usually it's a receipt
that didn't scan cleanly.
Everything below can be fixed inside the app, without losing the bill you're in the middle of. If yours isn't here, email us — a person answers.
[email protected] · or jump to every way to reach us.
Every number the scan produced can be corrected.
Nothing here needs a rescan or a restart — the bill stays where it is while you fix it.
A price came out wrong
Press and hold the item on the Who had what screen and choose Fix price. The same menu carries Rename and Remove.
The scan missed a line
Tap “Add something the scan missed” at the bottom of the items card, then type the name and the price.
Service or tax is wrong
Tap the Service and tax card to correct the amount, or to switch between splitting it per head and spreading it across what everyone ate.
It says the items are under or over the total
The lines it read don't add up to the printed total. Tap that line — you can check against the original scan, or type the correct total — then add or fix whatever is missing.
It says something is still unclaimed
Some items have nobody against them. Pick a person in the bar under the title, then tap the items they had — a claimed line shows their initials.
The scan is a mess
Tap Rescan and get the whole bill in frame on a flat surface. Or skip the camera entirely: open the ⓘ sheet on the start screen, take “Type a total instead”, and split the total evenly.
The ones we get asked.
Cost, privacy, the maths, and what the app needs to run.
Where are my previous splits?
There aren't any. Splitr has no history, no database and no account — the bill exists while the app is open and is gone when you close it. If you need a record, send the summary to your group chat before you leave the screen.
What does it cost?
Nothing for your first ten splits. After that it's one purchase — Splitr, forever — with no subscription and no account, and Family Sharing included. The app never charges per scan.
Does the receipt get uploaded anywhere?
No. The photo is read on your phone and never leaves it. Splitting works with no signal at all, which is the simplest proof of it. The only connection Splitr ever opens is to Apple, to check the price of the unlock and confirm whether you have bought it.
Do the shares always add up to the total?
Yes — exactly, every time. Money is handled in whole pennies rather than decimals, and where a split doesn't divide cleanly the remaining pennies are distributed rather than rounded away.
Can I split without scanning anything?
Yes. Open the ⓘ sheet on the start screen and choose “Type a total instead” — it also appears on the start screen itself once you've been to the camera and come back. Add the names, then take “Split evenly” on the Who had what screen.
Why does it say it used the basic parser?
Splitr asks the on-device language model for a second opinion on the receipt, and says so on the line under your share. Where Apple Intelligence isn't available the app falls back to its own deterministic reader and tells you — the split itself is unaffected.
The camera won't open
Splitr scans inside the app, so it needs camera permission and a real device with a back camera — check Settings › Splitr › Camera. Typing a total works everywhere.
What do I need to run it?
An iPhone running iOS 26 or later. The on-device model layer uses Apple Intelligence where the device supports it, and degrades gracefully where it doesn't.
How do I delete my data?
There is nothing of yours to delete. Beyond your three preferences and its own record of the free splits and the unlock, Splitr stores nothing on the device (the bill you're splitting lives in memory only) and nothing at all off it. Deleting the app takes those last two with it.
Things we already
know about.
Listed rather than buried. Found something that isn't here? Tell us about it — it's the fastest way to get it fixed.
No photo-library import
Splitr scans with the camera only — you can't pick an existing photo of a receipt yet.
No swipe-to-delete on an item
Removing a line is in the press-and-hold menu instead.
Handwritten and faded receipts
The reader is good, not magic. If the print has gone, type the total and split it evenly.
