DelaywiseDelay Repay checker for iPhone

How Delaywise compares

What sets it apartOn a flexi or season ticket, Delaywise works out what a late journey should pay by the train company’s own published formula, and shows the sum: for GWR, £330 ÷ 16 × 25% is about £5.16 for 22 minutes late.

Delaywise, coming soon to the UK App Store, is a Delay Repay checker for rail commuters, above all on season and flexi tickets. Each travel day it asks whether you took your train, checks how late it arrived, and shows about what your train company should pay, the sum behind it, and the date to claim by.

Why choose Delaywise

  • Season and flexi tickets by the train company’s own published formula, with the sum shown: for GWR, a flexi journey is a sixteenth of the ticket’s price.
  • Every amount beside the train’s due and arrival times, from National Rail Enquiries’ historical running data.
  • Each claim’s claim-by date, with a day in hand, and an optional reminder a week before.
  • Until a journey’s times are published it says Not checked yet, rather than marking it on time.
  • Your usual train free in one direction (say, the 07:42 in), with no time limit; you answer in the app, and the morning notification comes with Plus.

On the UK App Store: Trainline, Railiable and Delay Me Repay Me.

What you pay. Delaywise Plus, which checks every journey both ways, is £1.99 a month or £14.99 a year; Railiable Plus is £2.99 a month or £24.99 a year.

Another app may suit you better if

  • You want to look up any route and date, or an alert while you’re still on the train: Railiable does the first for free, and the second with Plus for saved routes.
  • You buy Flexible or Advance tickets in Trainline: it tracks eligible single-leg trips with nothing to set up.
  • Your season, flexi included, is on a GWR smartcard bought on GWR.com and you tap in and out: GWR’s Automated Delay Repay creates the claim for you to accept.

What people ask for, and what Delaywise does

Season tickets left out

Delay Repay tools often leave season tickets out, or don’t show how a season’s share is worked out. Delaywise shows the sum; where a company’s page gives no figure for your ticket, it shows the lateness without an amount and says why.

Claiming twice

Some tickets are claimed automatically by the train company, such as GWR seasons on a smartcard bought on GWR.com. When yours may be, Delaywise’s claim pack says so, so you check your email before claiming.

Questions

Is there a Delay Repay app that works out season tickets?

Delaywise works out a weekly, flexi, monthly, quarterly or annual season ticket’s share of each late journey by your train company’s own formula, and shows the sum. For GWR, a flexi journey is a sixteenth of the price: £330 ÷ 16 × 25% is about £5.16 for a 07:42 due at 08:21 that arrived at 08:43, 22 minutes late.

How much is Delaywise?

One train is free, with no time limit. Delaywise Plus is £1.99 a month or £14.99 a year, with no free trial, and checks every journey you take.

Does Delaywise make the claim for me?

No. It holds every detail the claim form asks for, ready to copy, and opens your train company’s own form; you send the claim yourself. It takes no cut.

How do I tell it which trains I took?

Each travel day it asks “Did you take the 07:42?” in the app; with Plus, a morning notification asks too. Only the days you say you travelled get an amount.
