StillpawSeizure diary for dogs and cats

Stillpaw privacy policy

This policy covers the Stillpaw iPhone app. It explains what the app keeps, where it keeps it, and what reaches us, which is nothing you record.

Last updated: 29 October 2026

1. Who we are

Stillpaw is made by Mirentha Ltd ("Mirentha", "we", "us"), a company incorporated in England and Wales (company number 17207914) with its registered office at 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ. For anything about privacy, write to [email protected].

2. The short version

  • Your diary is kept in the app's storage on your iPhone, and in your iPhone's own backups if you make them. Mirentha never receives it.
  • There's no account, no Stillpaw server, no advertising and no tracking, and the app contains no analytics or other third-party code that collects data.
  • Apart from Stillpaw Plus, which Apple's App Store handles, the app makes no internet connections of its own.
  • Files leave your iPhone only when you share them yourself: the vet report, CSV files or a backup file.
  • Dose reminders are notifications set up on your iPhone, and their text shows on your Lock Screen.

3. What the app keeps, and where

Your diary

Everything you enter is saved in the app's own storage on your iPhone:

  • your pets: name, dog or cat, birth date, diagnosis, your emergency plan and when to show it, and your vet's name and phone number;
  • seizures: when they started and ended, their length (timed, estimated or unknown), type, when your pet was back to normal, possible triggers, any rescue medicine and a note, and your notes on before and after;
  • medicines: name, strength, dose, times, whether reminders are on, start and stop dates, notes, and the history of dose and time changes;
  • dose records: Given, Skipped or Extra, when, and a note;
  • vet visits: the date and a note.

This is information about your pet's health, and it can include people's names if you write them in a note or add your vet's details. It stays on your iPhone until you delete it (section 7). We can't see it. Copies in your iPhone's backups and in files you export are only as private as wherever you keep them.

The app doesn't use your location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone or Apple Health.

Your iPhone's own backups

Stillpaw doesn't sync and has no cloud storage of its own. The diary is included when your iPhone backs up, to iCloud (iCloud Backup) or to a computer. Those backups belong to you and are stored by you or by Apple under your Apple Account; Mirentha has no access to them. You can manage iCloud Backup in your iPhone's Settings › [your name] › iCloud.

Copies saved before a restore

When you restore a backup file, Stillpaw first saves a copy of what was on the iPhone, so you can go back with Restore previous data. Up to three copies are kept on your iPhone, in the app's storage, and like the diary they're included in your iPhone's backups. Each copy keeps whatever was in the diary when it was saved. You can delete each one in Settings › Backup › Restore previous data.

Answers from the Lock Screen

If you tap Given or Skipped on a reminder when the diary can't be opened, such as after a restart before you've first unlocked your iPhone, or if saving fails, the app keeps the answer (which medicine, which dose time, Given or Skipped, and when you answered) in a small file that can be written while the iPhone is locked, then writes it into the diary when it next opens and deletes the file.

Settings the app remembers

The app keeps a few settings on your iPhone: which pet you last looked at, whether you've seen the welcome screen, whether Stillpaw Plus was active at the last check, and on which plan (so it can tell if it has ended), whether Stillpaw Plus has ever been active on this iPhone (so the app can say Plus has ended rather than that you're on the free plan), whether History shows medicine changes, when you last made a backup file, and, until you tap I understand, the pet and medicine names in a "Stillpaw Plus has ended" notice. For Apple's rating prompt it also keeps how many times you have closed the Vet report sheet after making the vet report or the CSV files in it, and the version of the app that last asked Apple to show the prompt, so that Stillpaw asks no more than once a version and never before the second time. Neither of these two numbers holds anything about your pet.

It also keeps:

  • when you tapped I understand on the Before you start screen, and the version of the terms of use it stood for, so that the screen shows once for each version of the terms and Settings › About › About Stillpaw's records can show the date;
  • whether second reminders are on (Remind again if not recorded, in Settings › Reminders);
  • until when Today's request to back up your diary was put off with Not now.

These settings stay on your iPhone. Like the diary, they're included in your iPhone's own backups; they aren't in the backup file Stillpaw makes, and the app never sends them anywhere.

4. Reminders and notifications

Dose reminders are local notifications: Stillpaw schedules them on your iPhone, up to a week ahead, and nothing is sent to us or through a server. The app asks for permission to send notifications when you first save a daily medicine with reminders on, tap Turn on reminders, or restore a diary that has them, and never at launch.

Each reminder shows your pet's name and the medicine, with the time, dose and strength, for example "Bramble: Phenobarbital, 19:00 · 1½ tablets · 60 mg tablet". Stillpaw also sets a second reminder for 30 minutes after each dose's time, showing the same but starting "Not recorded yet"; it's removed once the dose is recorded, and you can turn second reminders off with Remind again if not recorded in Settings › Reminders. Like any notification, a reminder can appear on your Lock Screen. To keep its text off the Lock Screen, set Show Previews to When Unlocked or Never in your iPhone's Settings › Notifications › Stillpaw, where you can also turn Stillpaw's notifications off. Doses can still be logged in the app with reminders off.

To warn you when your iPhone's settings could hold reminders back, Stillpaw reads its own notification settings from iOS each time you come back to it: whether its notifications are allowed, shown on the Lock Screen, held for a Scheduled Summary, and have sound. It reads them on your iPhone, shows what it found in Settings › Reminders, and keeps and sends nothing.

5. What leaves your iPhone, and only when you do it

  • Files you share. The vet report (a PDF), the two CSV files and the backup file are made when you tap Share PDF, Export CSV or Export backup, and handed to the share sheet. Where they go (email, Messages, Files or anywhere else) is your choice, and the service you choose handles them under its own terms. The backup file holds your whole diary, including your emergency plan and your vet's details, and it isn't encrypted by Stillpaw, so keep it somewhere you trust. The app's working copies of these files are removed the next time it starts.
  • Calling your vet. The Call button on the timer opens your iPhone's Phone app with the number you saved. The call is between you and your vet.
  • Links. Terms of Use, Privacy Policy and Support open mirentha.com in your browser. Visits to the website are covered by the Mirentha privacy policy.

6. Apple, purchases and analytics

Stillpaw Plus. Subscriptions are sold and handled by Apple through the App Store. The app asks Apple for Stillpaw Plus's plans and prices, passes your purchase or Restore Purchases to Apple, and checks whether Stillpaw Plus is active on your Apple Account. We never see your payment details, your name or your Apple Account; Apple gives us sales reports. Apple's handling of your data is described in the Apple Privacy Policy.

Ratings. After you've made the vet report or the CSV files in the Vet report sheet on two separate occasions, Stillpaw may ask Apple to show its rating prompt, and Apple decides whether it appears. A rating or review you choose to leave goes to Apple, under Apple's terms. The app learns nothing about it, and nothing reaches us.

Crash reports and usage statistics. If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers (Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements), Apple may share crash reports and statistics about how the app is used with us. That comes from Apple, under Apple's terms and your choice there; the app itself sends us nothing. We use them only to find and fix faults in Stillpaw, on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the app working, and keep them no longer than Apple makes them available to us in its developer tools. You can stop sharing them at any time in the same place.

No other third parties. Stillpaw contains no third-party analytics, advertising, attribution or crash-reporting code, and we don't sell or share data with anyone. If that ever changes, we'll update this policy first, and any third party that receives data will be required to protect it to the same or an equal standard as this policy.

7. Keeping and deleting your data

Your diary stays on your iPhone until you delete it:

  • delete a seizure from its details, or by swiping it in History;
  • delete a pet in Settings (tap the pet, then Delete followed by its name), which removes its seizures, medicines, doses and vet visits from the diary and can't be undone;
  • delete the copies saved before a restore in Settings › Backup › Restore previous data (a copy saved before you deleted a pet still holds that pet, so delete it too if you want the pet gone completely);
  • delete the Stillpaw app to remove everything it stored on your iPhone.

Deleting the app doesn't reach your iPhone's backups or files you exported; delete those yourself if you want them gone. We can't delete anything for you, because we don't hold it.

8. Your rights

Apart from any crash reports and usage statistics Apple passes on (section 6), Mirentha doesn't receive personal data through Stillpaw, so there's no diary data for us to give you, correct or delete: everything is in your hands on your iPhone. If you write to us, with the support form or by email, we handle your message as the Mirentha privacy policy describes.

Under UK data protection law you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and data portability over any personal data we do hold about you, and the right to withdraw consent. To use them, write to [email protected]. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right; you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.

9. Children

Stillpaw is made for pet owners and isn't directed at children under 13. The app itself collects no personal data from anyone, children included.

10. Changes to this policy

If a new version of Stillpaw changes what it keeps or sends, we'll update this policy before that version is released and change the date at the top.
