Most questions are about what the on-device model picked out, or didn’t. Nothing it finds is saved until you’ve checked it, and every name can be fixed by hand, so the answers below are mostly about where to tap.

Talespoke runs Apple’s on-device model and speech recognition. Here’s what they need, and what to do when they miss something.
Nothing was filed from my note
Automatic filing needs an iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence, with Apple Intelligence turned on in Settings › Apple Intelligence & Siri, and the model downloaded; Settings in Talespoke says whether it is ready. Until it is, the Check what was found screen still opens, with the names already in your campaign linked and the note’s other capitalised names offered, so you can file by hand. The note itself is always saved exactly as you said it.
It missed a name, or filed one as the wrong kind
It happens: the model is small and works on your iPhone. Every name can be added, renamed, re-kinded or dropped on the Check what was found screen before anything is saved, and changed later from its own page. Names the model skipped but you capitalised appear under Also named, one tap to file; turn one down and it isn’t offered again. Once a name is on file, later notes that mention it are linked automatically, whether the model noticed or not.
It said it couldn’t read part of a note
Apple’s model has its own guardrails, and it sometimes declines a genuinely dark note (a poisoning, a pact, a death) as sensitive, even though it is fiction. When that happens the note is still saved, the names already in the campaign are still linked, and the rest are offered for you to file by hand. Long notes are read in parts, so one declined paragraph does not lose the others.
Why aren’t my players filed as NPCs?
Because they aren’t NPCs. Add the player characters’ names to the campaign (Edit campaign › Player characters) and the app never files them as NPCs, however often they come up in a recap.
Dictation isn’t working
Dictation needs microphone and speech recognition permission: check Settings › Talespoke. The first time you dictate, iOS may need to download its speech model for your language, which takes a moment on Wi-Fi. If dictation isn’t available on your iPhone, the keyboard’s own microphone key still works in the note field, or you can type.

What does it cost?
Talespoke is free for one campaign, fully structured, with as many notes as you like, for as long as it runs. Talespoke Plus adds unlimited campaigns and search across all of them: £2.49 a month or £14.99 a year in the UK. It renews automatically until you cancel, which you can do any time in Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions; cancel at least a day before the period ends to avoid the next charge. If you stop, nothing is deleted or hidden: every campaign stays readable and exportable, and the one you wrote in last keeps taking notes.
Do I have to pay again on a new iPhone?
No. A subscription belongs to your Apple Account rather than the phone, so it covers every iPhone signed in to that account, and Restore purchases in Settings brings it back if it doesn’t show straight away. Apple takes the payment and handles refunds, at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Do my notes sync between devices?
No. Your notes are stored on the iPhone you wrote them on and nowhere else, which is the point: there is no account and no server. They move to a new iPhone with an iPhone backup or Quick Start, like any app’s data, and you can export any campaign as Markdown at any time.
How do I export a campaign?
Settings › Export, then pick the campaign. You get one Markdown file with every note in your own words, and the cast, threads and places, ready for any notes app, a wiki or a printer. Export is always free, subscribed or not.
Does anything I say get uploaded?
No. Dictation is turned into text on your iPhone and the audio isn’t kept; your notes are read on your iPhone by Apple’s on-device model; there is no analytics and no server of ours. The full detail is on the privacy page.
Which games does it work with?
Any tabletop roleplaying game: fantasy, horror, science fiction, or a world of your own. The app doesn’t need to know the rules; it listens for the people, the plots and the places.
What do I need to run it?
An iPhone on iOS 27 or later. Automatic filing needs an iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence, with Apple Intelligence turned on; without it, Talespoke is still a quick campaign notebook you file by hand. The app is in English, and the on-device model reads notes in English best. It is iPhone-only and portrait-only.
How do I delete my data?
Delete the app, and everything Talespoke held on that iPhone goes with it: campaigns, notes and everything filed from them. Export anything you want to keep first. If your iPhone is backed up, older backups still contain what the app held at the time, under your own Apple Account or computer. We hold nothing, so there is nothing to ask us for. Deleting the app does not cancel Talespoke Plus; do that in Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions.
