TalespokeCampaign notes for Game Masters
How Talespoke compares
Talespoke is a campaign notebook for tabletop Game Masters on iPhone, coming soon to the App Store. You dictate or type a session recap or a prep note; Apple’s on-device model picks out the NPCs, plot threads and places you mention, you check them, and they’re filed into the campaign’s index and timeline. Search answers questions from your notes. Beside Saga20, DnD Campaign Notes, RPG Notebook and Obsidian, the difference is that its filing and answers happen on the iPhone itself. Like Obsidian, it collects nothing. It runs only on iPhone.
Who it suits
Talespoke is a good fit if
- you want to say what happened after a session and have its NPCs, threads and places filed for you
- you’d rather nothing about your campaign left your iPhone
- you want to ask your notes a question at the table
Another app may suit you better if
- you want the whole session recorded and summarised: Saga20 does that
- you want to share the campaign with your players: Saga20 has public campaign pages, and DnD Campaign Notes has share links with Pro
- you prep on an iPad, a computer or Android: the other three run on more devices, as the table shows
- you want character sheets, dice and an initiative tracker in the same app: DnD Campaign Notes has them
Side by side
Four apps a Game Master might use instead, from our UK App Store searches on 15 October 2026: two notebooks for GMs, an app that turns recorded sessions into notes, and a general notes app. Each cell is what the app’s App Store page or website says; “Not listed” means we didn’t find it there. Talespoke isn’t on the App Store yet, so its column comes from its code and privacy policy.

What Game Masters ask for, and what Talespoke does
Remembering names made up at the table
Names invented on the spot are easy to lose by the next session. Talespoke files the NPCs, threads and places you mention, and Search finds them, and every note that names them, months later.
Less writing up after the game
A wiki of linked pages takes upkeep many Game Masters give up on. Talespoke builds each name’s page from a recap you say out loud: you check the names, then save.
Finding things mid-session
Type a name or ask a question in Search, and the answer comes from your own notes, written on your iPhone.
Questions
Is there a campaign notes app that works offline?
Talespoke does: once Apple’s on-device models are on the phone, dictation, filing, search and answers all run on the iPhone, with no account and no server. Automatic filing and answers need an iPhone with Apple Intelligence turned on.
Does Talespoke record my sessions?
No. You dictate or type a note after the session, it’s transcribed on your iPhone as you speak, and no audio is kept. If you want a whole session recorded and summarised, Saga20 does that.
How much is Talespoke?
One campaign is free, with as many notes as you like. Talespoke Plus, for every campaign and search across all of them, is £2.49 a month or £14.99 a year in the UK.
Can I export my campaign notes?
Yes: a whole campaign as one Markdown file, free, at any time, subscribed or not.
Does it work with any game system?
Yes. It listens for the people, plots and places in your notes, not the rules, so it works with any tabletop roleplaying game, including one of your own.
