CatchCropVeg garden planner for iPhone
How CatchCrop compares
CatchCrop is a veg garden planner for iPhone. It works out every sowing, planting-out and harvest date from the two frost dates you give it, and plans each bed, plot and pot in 30 cm squares that come free once a crop is out, so a quick catch crop fits in before the next. It warns when brassicas, potatoes or tomatoes, onions, peas or beans, or carrots go back where their family grew in the last three years, and shows the hours of direct sun on each bed in a 3D garden. There’s no account, and your garden stays on your iPhone and in your own iCloud. Two beds are free; more need CatchCrop Full, £2.99 a month or £19.99 a year.
Who it suits
CatchCrop is a good fit if
- you want every date worked out from your own frost dates, with no crop’s timing stored as a month
- you fit quick crops in before the main ones, square by square
- you want to see which beds get the most sun
- you’d rather not make an account, and want it to work at the plot without a signal
Another app may suit you better if
- you’re on Android or want to plan on a computer: GrowIt and Planter have Android apps, and Planter (with Premium) and Fryd (with Super Fryd) run in a browser
- you want a bigger library: GrowIt and Planter each list 80 or more plants and over 1,000 varieties, where CatchCrop has 31 vegetables
- you want companion-planting guidance: GrowIt and Planter show which plants grow well together

What people ask of a veg garden planner
Sowing times for their own climate
Growers often meet sowing advice timed for warmer zones. CatchCrop works every date out from the frost dates you set, starting from one of four reference climates if you like.
A free tier that doesn’t run out
People want to try a planner properly before paying. CatchCrop plans two beds free for as long as you like, with every feature.
Plans that match how a bed is used
People want crops to share a bed through the season. In CatchCrop a square is taken only while something grows in it.
Planning on the phone, without signing up
Some planners keep the real planning for a computer, or need an account first. CatchCrop is planned on the iPhone, with no sign-in.
Questions
Is there a veg garden planner that uses my own frost dates?
Yes. CatchCrop works out every date from your last spring frost and first autumn frost. Planter also uses frost dates, set by hand or from a weather station.
Can I plan a catch crop or a succession in the same bed?
Yes. In CatchCrop a square is taken only while something grows in it, so radishes can go in ahead of the tomatoes that follow in the same squares.
Does CatchCrop need an account or a signal?
No. There’s no sign-in, the crop library is in the app, and your garden stays on your iPhone and in your own iCloud.
How much is CatchCrop?
Two beds are free for as long as you like. CatchCrop Full, for every bed, plot and pot, is £2.99 a month or £19.99 a year. There’s no free trial.
Is CatchCrop on Android or iPad?
No, it’s for iPhone, with iOS 26 or later. GrowIt and Planter run on Android.
