Fairsies support

Press and hold the item on the Who had what screen and choose Fix price. The same menu carries Rename and Remove.

Tap “Add something the scan missed” at the bottom of the items card, then type the name and the price.

Tap the Service and tax card to correct the amount, or to switch between splitting it per head and spreading it across what everyone ate.

The lines it read don't add up to the printed total. Tap that line — you can check against the original scan, or type the correct total — then add or fix whatever is missing.

Some items have nobody against them. Pick a person in the bar under the title, then tap the items they had — a claimed line shows their initials.

The reading stops on the slip so you can check it over: tap Rescan there and get the whole bill in frame on a flat surface. Or skip the camera entirely: tap “Type a total” on the start screen and split the total evenly.

There aren't any. Fairsies has no history, no database and no account — the bill exists while the app is open and is gone when you close it. If you need a record, send the summary to your group chat before you leave the screen.

Your first five scans are free — five actual bills, not five days, so the free part can't run out while you're not using it. Only scanning is counted; typing a total in yourself never uses one. After that, scanning is £14.99 a year or £1.99 a month, taken by Apple and renewing until you cancel. Typing a total in yourself is free forever either way. No account, and we never charge per scan. A scan only counts when a bill actually reads: photographing the same bill again, adding a second page and correcting figures are all free.

On your iPhone: Settings › your name › Subscriptions › Fairsies › Cancel Subscription. You can also reach that screen from Manage subscription inside the app, on the subscription screen or in Settings (the gear on the start screen). Cancel at least 24 hours before the next period starts to avoid being charged for it. Cancelling stops the renewal but doesn't cut short the period you've already paid for — scanning keeps working until it ends. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription, and we can't cancel for you, because Apple holds it rather than us.

No. Apple records the subscription against your Apple Account rather than against the phone, so tapping Restore purchase on the subscription screen or in Settings (the gear on the start screen) brings it back at no further charge. Apple takes the payment and handles refunds, at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot refund for you.

It goes to Apple, and nowhere else. Fairsies reads receipts with Apple Intelligence on Apple's Private Cloud Compute, Apple's own servers. Apple states that what they are sent is used only for that one request, deleted straight after, and never visible to Apple. Every scanned receipt is read there, so every scanned receipt goes to Apple: there is no version of a scan that stays on the phone. What is sent is the photograph of the receipt with the app's fixed instructions for reading it, and the whole, uncropped photograph as well if the crop seems to have cut part of the bill off. It never includes the names you type, the split or anything else about you. There is no Mirentha server in the chain. The app's only other connections are to the App Store, to check the price of the subscription and confirm whether one is running, and to iCloud, when you choose a photo whose original is kept in iCloud Photos, so the photo picker can fetch it. When every line has someone against it and the lines agree with the total, yes, to the penny. Money is handled in whole pennies rather than decimals, and where a split doesn't divide cleanly the remaining pennies are distributed rather than rounded away. If a line is still unclaimed, or the lines it read don't agree with the total printed on the receipt, the shares won't add up to that total, and the screen with everyone's shares says by how much: still to account for, or over the total. An even split always adds up to the total exactly.

Yes. Tap “Type a total” under the scan button on the start screen (the ⓘ sheet offers it too, as “Type a total instead”). Add the names, then take “Split evenly” on the Who had what screen. “Try a sample bill”, next to it, opens a worked example without scanning anything.

It says what your share is made of — the items you had to yourself, your part of anything shared, and your slice of the service — built from what was actually tapped. When the bill has been confirmed and an even split would have cost you more, it says that too. If it looks wrong, tap Edit and check who had what.

Fairsies scans inside the app, so it needs camera permission and a real device with a back camera — check Settings › Fairsies › Camera. “Choose a photo” reads a picture of the bill you already have, and typing a total works everywhere.

An iPhone running iOS 27 or later with Apple Intelligence switched on and set to a language it supports (Settings › Apple Intelligence & Siri › Language), which is what reads the receipt; it needs an Apple Intelligence-capable iPhone. If the language isn't one it supports yet, the app says so, and you can still type a total. Apple Intelligence reads the receipt on Apple's Private Cloud Compute, so scanning also needs an internet connection. Typing a total and splitting it works on any supported iPhone, with or without signal.

That limit is Apple’s, not ours. Apple gives each person a daily amount of Apple Intelligence on Private Cloud Compute, shared across every app that uses it and counted against the Apple Account signed in on your iPhone. Fairsies never charges you per scan and is not billed for it, but we cannot raise it either. The app tells you when it resets, and Type a total instead still works in the meantime. Apple says iCloud+ gives you a larger daily amount, and when Apple offers it, the message has a See Apple's options button.

There is nothing of yours to delete. Beyond your preferences (and a pay-me link, if you added one), the count of free scans left, its own note of whether a subscription is running and a count of finished bills for the rating prompt, Fairsies stores nothing on the device (the bill you're splitting lives in memory only) and keeps nothing off it: Apple states that a receipt read on its Private Cloud Compute is deleted once the answer comes back. Deleting the app takes the preferences with it; the subscription itself stays with Apple, so Restore purchase brings it back — and deleting the app does not cancel it, which is done in Settings.
