How Cardetta compares
Cardetta is an iPhone flashcard app for exam revision that paces new cards to an exam date, so you see every card in time. It opens the Anki decks you already have, schedules them with FSRS and says in plain English why each card is due. Beside AnkiMobile, Quizlet, Knowt and Noji on the UK App Store, it needs no account, even to sync, because decks go through your own iCloud, and its privacy label reads Data Not Collected; but it runs only on iPhone.
Who it suits
Cardetta is a good fit if
- you have an exam date and want to see every card before it
- you have an Anki deck or a spreadsheet of terms to bring to your iPhone
- you’d rather not make an account, and want your cards on your iPhone and in your own iCloud
- you want your cards left exactly as you wrote them, with no AI
Another app may suit you better if
- you study on an iPad, a computer or an Android phone too: AnkiMobile works with Anki on computers, and Quizlet, Knowt and Noji run on Android and the web
- you want ready-made decks: Quizlet, Knowt and Noji have libraries of other people’s sets, and AnkiMobile downloads Anki’s shared decks
- you want AI to make cards from your notes: Quizlet, Knowt and Noji (with Premium) do that
- you want charts of your study history: AnkiMobile has graphs and statistics; Cardetta shows one retention figure per deck

What people ask for, and what Cardetta does
Free features moving behind a subscription
A common complaint is a paywall arriving mid-revision. Everything Cardetta does works on its free tier of one deck and 50 cards, and if a subscription ends, nothing is deleted or hidden.
Knowing whether you’ll get through the deck in time
Give a deck its exam date and Cardetta shows the cards not yet seen against the days left, and raises the day’s new cards if that’s what it takes.
Cards changed or padded out by AI
People ask for their own wording to be left alone. Cardetta has no AI; nothing in it rewrites or summarises a card.
Having to sign up first
People ask to start without making an account. Cardetta has none: decks stay on your iPhone and, if you’re signed in to iCloud, sync through your own private iCloud.
Questions
Is there a flashcard app that paces new cards to an exam date?
Cardetta does. Put a date on a deck and it spreads the new cards over all but the last fifth of the days left, and brings forward reviews that would fall after the exam. None of the other four apps here lists that.
Can I use my Anki decks on iPhone without AnkiMobile?
Yes. Cardetta opens .apkg files from Files, Mail or the share sheet, with their pictures, sounds and cloze cards. Anki’s review history stays behind, so the cards start as new.
Does Cardetta need an account?
No. Decks are kept on your iPhone and, if you’re signed in to iCloud, sync through your own private iCloud, which Mirentha can’t see.
How much is Cardetta?
Free for one deck and 50 cards, with every feature. Cardetta Unlimited removes both limits for £2.99 a month or £19.99 a year, each with a free first week for new subscribers. UK prices; the App Store shows yours.
Does Cardetta work on iPad, Mac or Android?
Cardetta is made for iPhone, with iOS 26 or later. AnkiMobile also runs on iPad, and Quizlet, Knowt and Noji also run on Android and the web.
